Humboldt meets Hamlet

Humour, drama and tragedy all combined in one play performed by the “Märchenhütte” from Berlin. On November 5^th the 11^th grade was able to experience a modern interpretation of the play “Hamlet”.

Laughter and amusement echoed through the assembly hall on a Friday noon. Revenge, corruption, religion, politics, apparition and reality as well as women: all these aspects are united in Hamlet. Although it may seem hard to understand and maybe even a little bit confusing at times the play offers a great theatre experience and this is exactly what the students were able to witness.

The simplicity of the play eased the understanding of us students as the three actors explained some scenes in a humorous manner instead of acting it out in a roleplay so students who might were not informed about the plot before had a brilliant understanding afterwards.

Moreover the humorous style of acting prevented any kind of boredom to come up and some of us even recognized the famous quote “To be, or not to be, that is the question”.

Furthermore us students were deeply impressed by the concept of the play because each actor mimed multiple roles, while managing to outplay great passion and even present the roles uniquely. Another innovative approach was to include us spectators in the acting process with asking questions and investigating the effect on the spectatorship as well as handing out props to involve us even more. This led to a great atmosphere during the play and a consistent attention.

Surprisingly the actors managed to accomplish all these features while using a small number of props including a huge flag, a throne and two swords. A resulting effect was that the performers and the play itself were dominant and that there was no room for distraction. Also the play was brought across very naturally.

To conclude we want to thank both Principal Kosanke and the “Märchenhütte” for organizing this exciting experience for our students. We are hopefully looking forward to more extraordinary opportunities like this one. The event was greatly appreciated by the students and especially with the vague future of school activities the performance posed a highlight of the school year.

,,Sein oder nicht sein, das ist hier die Frage.“

Normalerweise sind Theaterstücke immer ziemlich langweilig, Hamlet war es aber nicht. Jetzt fragt ihr euch natürlich, was Hamlet ist. Hamlet ist ein Theaterstück, welches am 5.11.2021 in unserer Aula aufgeführt wurde. Es ging insgesamt 90min und wurde vor unserem jetzigen 11er Jahrgang (95 Schüler) vorgespielt. Für insgesamt 11 Rollen gab es nur 3 Schauspieler und da sind wir auch schon bei den positiven Dingen.

Gepackt von voller Spannung und Emotionen, war es insgesamt ein sehr spannendes und interessantes Stück. Die vielen Rollen wurden sehr gut gespielt und obwohl es nur 3 Schauspieler gab, war nicht zu merken, dass manche Rollen von ein- und demselben Schauspieler gespielt wurden. Das Stück hatte viele lustige Stellen, nicht nur durch die eigentlichen Rollen, sondern auch durch zusätzliche Rollen, die das Publikum mit einbezogen haben, zum Beispiel der Putzmann, der seine Sachen ins Publikum gegeben hat. Das Stück handelt von der Tragödie Hamlet, welches von William Shakespeare verfasst wurde. Jetzt könnten wir auch natürlich die Geschichte erzählen, aber das wäre ja ein ziemlicher Spoiler.
Deswegen kann, wer das Stück sehen möchte, auch nach Berlin zu den Berliner Bühnen oder zur Schaubühne nach Berlin fahren. Aufgrund des geringen Platzes war es zwar für die vorderen Reihen etwas zu laut, aber im Großen und Ganzen war es doch sehr lustig. Aber mal eine etwas andere Frage: Was würdet ihr eigentlich unter der Abkürzung PH verstehen?
